Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp hit by global outage
Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp went offline for users across the globe, the social media giant said on Monday, as it worked on restoring its services. Reuters could not immediately confirm the issue affecting the services, but the error message on the webpage of Facebook Inc (FB.O) suggested a problem with Domain Name System (DNS). DNS allows web addresses to take users to their destinations. A similar outage at cloud company Akamai Technologies Inc (AKAM.O) took down multiple websites in July. read more Security experts tracking the situation said the outage could have been triggered by a configuration error, which could be the result of an internal mistake, though sabotage by an insider would be theoretically possible. An outside hack was viewed as less likely. A massive denial-of-service attack that could overwhelm one of the world’s most popular sites, on the other hand, would require either coordination among powerful criminal groups or a very innovative technique. Facebook acknowledged users were having trouble accessing its apps but did not provide any specifics about the nature of the problem or how many were affected by the outage. “We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible, and we apologize for any inconvenience,” Facebook said. Shares of Facebook, which has nearly 2 billion daily active users, fell 5.5% in afternoon trading on Monday, inching towards its worst day in nearly a year. Downdetector – which only tracks outages by collating status reports from a series of sources, including user-submitted errors on its platform – showed there were more than 50,000 incidents of people reporting issues with Facebook and Instagram. The outage might be affecting a larger number of users. Meanwhile, the social-media giant’s instant messaging platform WhatsApp was also down for over 35,000 users, while Messenger was down for nearly 9,800 users. Facebook has experienced similar widespread outages with its suite of apps this year in March and July. read more Several users using their Facebook credentials to log in to third-party apps such as Pokemon Go and Match Masters were also facing issues. “If your game isn’t running as usual please note that there’s been an issue with Facebook login servers and the moment this gets fixed all will be back to normal,” puzzle game app Match Masters said on its Twitter account. The outage, which hit the social media giant’s platforms minutes before noon, comes a day after a Facebook whistleblower accused the firm of repeatedly prioritizing profit over clamping down on hate speech and misinformation, and said her lawyers have filed at least eight complaints with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. read more The complaint has led to two members of the European parliament calling for an investigation into the allegations. read more Reporting by Eva Mathews and Subrat Patnaik in Bengaluru, Additional reporting by Tiyashi Datta, Nivedita Balu in Bengaluru, and Joseph Menn in San Francisco; Editing by Uttaresh.V, Shailesh Kuber and Anil D’Silva. A Shopee seller’s customer service
The e-commerce industry in the Southeast Asian region is becoming increasingly popular. Shopee, as one of the leading e-commerce platforms in this region, is becoming a preferred choice for most e-commerce sellers especially It covers seven major markets which include Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines. As a cross-border e-commerce seller on Shopee, customer service and marketing are important aspects of the seller’s operations to make it successful. The “seller chat” in Shopee’s seller platform is an essential communication tool for efficient customer service. The related response rate is one of the critical indicators for a Shopee store’s assessment as well. After becoming the Shopee Preferred Seller, not only the products will have greater exposure, but also be able to raise their product ranking that eventually generates leads and sales. When opening a new shop on Shopee, the chat response rate is set to 57% by default. After five chats, the response rate will be re-calculated genuinely and automatically. Due to the weighted calculation and smoothing processing used by Shopee, the maximum response rate is set at 95% even if the shops have replied to all messages. The chat response rate algorithm is used to assess the frequency for sellers to respond to buyers in chat, including answering questions, accepting or rejecting bids. Answering all messages, including bids and stickers, within 12 hours can improve the overall response rate. Otherwise, no replies or replying after 12 hours will be regarded as a delayed reply that will degrade the response rate! If the vacation mode is adapted, all messages received will not be counted in the algorithm. The figure below indicates the seller chat’s responsiveness assessment index needed to become the Shopee Preferred Seller When shopping in the brick and mortar stores, customers can easily engage in face-to-face conversations with salespersons or store managers. However, under the cross-border e-commerce virtual shopping environment, excellent communication strategies should be adopted to execute valuable and efficient interactions with customers. Effective customer service and communication are increasingly important in cross-border e-commerce platforms like Shopee. As a global customer service provider with advanced technology, TRU29 shares the following customer service solutions specially designed for Shopee and other e-commerce sellers: 1. Emphasis on Customer Experience It’s a must that every Shopee Seller needs to provide customer service for buyers. The customer service teams need to equip with the proper communication skills and experience in providing a good customer experience. Therefore, to achieve the most trustworthy communication and to provide the most reliable customer experience, it’s imperative to ensure you set up a customer service team/staff that is well-versed and experienced. The choice of entrusting your call center services to knowledgeable experts leaves customers with positive impressions of your company. They feel more valued. An outsourcing company can improve your response time in a matter of minutes and decrease call abandonment. TRU29 is a renowned leader in equipping businesses with outsourced agents effectively that handle peak call volume and pave the way for exceeding customer expectations. Just imagine the sheer number of potential leads and queries you can entertain in one shift. Wouldn’t that help you elevate your business and establish better authority in terms of acknowledging and entertaining individual issues that affect customer experience? 2. Flexibility & Scalability In-house call centers are at the mercy of periods of low volumes when agents are idle. Outsourced call centers can plan for call volume peaks and valleys, scheduling staff to work more efficiently, reducing cost per call. Outsourced call centers have the size and staff to ramp up quickly for seasonal activity or campaigns. 3. Focus on your core business As a Shopee seller (or any other eCommerce platform), attending to tedious day-to-day management of the customer service may take your focus off on growing your business. TRU29 can assist you with your customer’s daily needs and allows you to spend your valuable time on what you do best! 4. Access to the latest technologies BPO companies for call centers give businesses the opportunity to use the latest technology without the latter having to shoulder the added cost. Your chosen provider will provide the needed equipment to help improve your business operations. This is a great way to use technology more effectively and stay ahead of end-user demands 5. Cost Efficiency According to data, businesses save up to 50% through outsourcing. From diminishing operating costs associated with staffing to helping small businesses manage agents more effectively to offering more efficient yet budget-friendly alternatives to user support software, equipment, and infrastructure, the success of several outsource service providers is not surprising. There is also a drastic shift in the work setup for most businesses, following the global health emergency caused by the pandemic. If you have a solid partner who can expand the breadth of what your assistance can do for your target market, then you can easily leverage your operation’s stability amid potential risks and setbacks during the so-called ‘new normal. With TRU29, whether you just need a part-time staff or hundreds, you need not worry! 6. Improve Efficiency and Productivity Do you feel as though your services are lacking in some areas? A call center outsources partnership helps your business hire highly trained employees, which allows your repetitive tasks to get maximum value from internal operations and focus on customer service activities. This work setup will result in higher work efficiency and productivity for both your business and your agents. In the next few years, with the rise of the ASEAN economy, Shopee is expected to become an irresistible cross-border e-commerce platform. Shopee sellers, coming from different countries around the world, aim to stand out from the millions of sellers. They need to start paying serious attention to operate professional and interactive customer services with the help of professional methods and resources. We look forward to sellers from all over the world with a vision of sustainable development and operations on Shopee!

NCR to remain on GCQ
Metro Manila and its four adjacent provinces also known as the National Capital Region (NCR) Plus will remain under the “general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions” classification from Aug. 1 to 15 and Iloilo province and three cities outside Luzon will still be under enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until Aug. 7, presidential spokesperson Harry Roque announced early Thursday morning. According to him, President Rodrigo Duterte approved the quarantine classifications recommended by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) for August. Iloilo province, Iloilo City, Cagayan de Oro City, and Gingoog — all of which have been under ECQ, the strictest classification, since July 16 — will retain their status until Aug. 7. Private Employers in the Philippines Commitment to Produce a Million New Jobs by December
Even as the nationwide COVID-19 inoculation ramps up, the Philippines is only likely to achieve herd immunity by 2023 due to the country’s relatively slow vaccination pace, said UK-based think tank Pantheon Macroeconomics. As of June 21, vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the Philippines has administered eight million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine – translating to 1.9% of the population now fully vaccinated. It’s a long way from the earlier projection of inoculating 70 million people by the end of the year. However, this week, the Philippines signed a supply agreement of 40 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine – its biggest vaccine procurement to date. The country has now secured the delivery of 113 million doses overall, and Pfizer deliveries are expected to begin in late September. Despite the slow progress, economic pundits are expecting the economy to be fully reopened and back to strength soon. Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III admits that the Philippines “may be behind” other neighboring economies. However, he said, “the country’s recovery will be stronger on the back of its sound economic fundamentals.” Private employers have collectively pledged to create one million jobs over the next six months – focusing on the outsourcing, electronics, construction, and tourism industries.
Another Partnership Blooms – Geely Philippines and TRU29
The automotive industry in the Philippines has always been privy and chose to do most of its business processes in-house. Nowadays with a lot of advancements in technology and years of successful outsourcing experience from other big businesses, the automotive industry has started to explore outsourcing as part of its business strategy. A primary consideration of utilizing outsourcing as a key factor of an automotive company’s business strategy is the value it brings which allows the automotive firm to focus on its core business – that is to create better automotive units and sell more. This is what Geely Philippines has just realized and has taken the step forward to leverage on outsourcing. With more than half a year of bidding processes, proposals, vendor selection, fine-tuning service levels, and how operations will be running… finally Geely Philippines has finalized an agreement with TRU29 Solutions Inc. to be its outsourcing partner moving forward. Being the first Automotive Firm in the Philippines that has embraced outsourcing, Geely Philippines has once again broken another record in the local automotive industry! Geely Auto should look to global trends but our cars should also have a hint of where the company originates from. Geely Philippines has made a celebrated come back into the country through Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP). Along with its comeback comes a product line, which is solely populated by the Geely Coolray subcompact crossover for now. One of China’s most successful automotive firms, Geely has been around since 1986. But back then, Geely was a refrigerator maker. Founded by Mr. Li Shufu, with financial help from his father, he forged Geely into its current status as a manufacturer of quality and inexpensive cars, targeted to the Chinese masses. As a politically independent automotive manufacturing privateer, Geely remained as the only automotive firm in China that has no ties with the country’s state government, allowing it to grow more rapidly on a global scale. The ‘90s saw its success as a motorcycle and small van manufacturer, and in 1998, it was finally granted approval by the state government to manufacture and develop a competitive line of automobiles. Global expansion was its next mission, and sure enough, after making ties with Volvo in Europe, its closest Asian neighbor was one of its first destinations. In the Philippines, Geely entered in 2011 when Geely automobiles were distributed and almost instantaneously managed to gain a stable stepping stone into the highly competitive Philippine automotive industry. The company left the shores midway through the decade, unfortunately, but now has returned under new distributorship and more premium automakers under its belt. Geely Philippines, under Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), currently has the 3 New Car Models in the Phillippines with one of them being cited as the Number 1 Cross Over SUV in the local market. Check out these 3 car models below: 3 Geely New Car Models in the Philippines Geely Coolray Geely Azkarra Geely Okavango Sojitz G Auto Philippines is the new member of the growing family of the Sojitz Corporation which has been active in the Philippine Auto Industry since the 1960s. The company commands local distributorships such as Fuso Trucks under Sojitz Fuso Philippines Corporation and a number of distributorships worldwide.
